What it is

SS-31 is a synthetic mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide, also referred to as elamipretide, that selectively concentrates in the inner mitochondrial membrane through an interaction with cardiolipin.

Preclinical research has examined SS-31's effects on mitochondrial membrane stability, electron transport chain efficiency, and reactive oxygen species production in models of oxidative stress and cellular aging.
