What it is

SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) is a synthetic octapeptide belonging to a family of peptides structurally based on the N-terminal domain of SNAP-25, a component of the neuronal SNARE complex. It was developed as an extension of a related peptide series to increase the number of amino acid residues involved in interaction with the exocytotic release machinery.

Studied in research for

Research has examined SNAP-8's interaction with SNARE complex assembly, specifically its capacity to interfere with formation of the ternary SNARE complex required for vesicle docking and neurotransmitter release, using in vitro biochemical and cell-based secretion assays.
