What it is

AHK-Cu is a copper(II) complex of the synthetic tripeptide alanine-histidine-lysine (Ala-His-Lys), structurally related to the plasma-derived tripeptide GHK-Cu but with alanine substituted for glycine at the N-terminal position. This substitution alters the copper coordination geometry and lipophilicity relative to GHK-Cu.

Studied in research for

In vitro and ex vivo research has examined AHK-Cu's effects on human hair follicle organ culture and dermal papilla cell proliferation, reporting changes in VEGF and TGF-beta1 production and apoptosis-related markers. Related copper-tripeptide research has also examined extracellular matrix and fibroblast signaling pathways.
