What it is

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper(II) complex of the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine, first isolated from human plasma in 1973. The copper ion is coordinated by nitrogen atoms from the histidine imidazole ring, the glycine amino group, and the peptide backbone, forming a high-stability complex.

Studied in research for

Animal studies have examined topically applied and systemically administered GHK-Cu for effects on wound contraction, granulation tissue formation, and angiogenesis in rodent models. In vitro research has examined its influence on collagen and glycosaminoglycan synthesis in skin fibroblasts, decorin expression, and release of growth factors including BDNF, VEGF, and BMP-2.
