What it is

Long R3 IGF-1 (Long Arg3-IGF-1) is a synthetic analog of human insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), a single-chain polypeptide normally produced in the liver under growth hormone regulation. The analog differs from native IGF-1 by an arginine-for-glutamic-acid substitution at position 3 and a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension derived from methionyl porcine growth hormone.

Studied in research for

Research has examined LR3-IGF-1's binding to IGF-1 and insulin receptors and its markedly reduced affinity for IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs) relative to native IGF-1, using in vitro cell proliferation assays to characterize receptor-mediated signaling and potency.
