What it is

AOD9604 is a synthetic 16-amino-acid peptide corresponding to the C-terminal fragment of human growth hormone, with an added N-terminal tyrosine for stability and disulfide-mediated cyclization. It was developed by researchers at Monash University to isolate the lipid-metabolizing domain of the hGH molecule from the domains responsible for its growth-promoting activity.

Studied in research for

Animal research in rodent models has examined AOD9604's effects on lipolysis and inhibition of lipogenesis, including modulation of acetyl-CoA carboxylase activity and beta-3-adrenergic receptor expression in adipose tissue. Research has also examined whether the fragment retains growth-hormone-receptor binding or stimulates IGF-1 as full-length hGH does, with reported findings indicating it does not appreciably do so in these models.
