PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, derived from the same melanotan research lineage developed at the University of Arizona. It functions as an agonist at melanocortin receptor subtypes, with particular affinity for MC4R and MC3R.
