Melanotan II is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, first synthesized by researchers at the University of Arizona. Structurally cyclized via a lactam bridge, it functions as a non-selective agonist across melanocortin receptor subtypes, including MC1R and MC4R.
